The Story Behind the Twang

Every great flavor has a great origin story, and this one starts in West Texas with founder Joseph (Jay) Stewart Martin, Jr., a man with fire in his soul, smoke on his mind, and a passion for cooking that goes way back.

Billy Twang was born from a simple belief:

“Good food matters, and the means to the end matter too.”

That philosophy sparked the creation of Cow Creek Supply Co. (est. 1992), Jay’s early venture into sourcing and supplying premium lump mesquite charcoal. Once he mastered the perfect flame, the next step was flavor, and that’s where Old No. 3 comes in.
