Bulldogs are one of the most popular breeds in America, and a few from all over the world get to go to the National Specialty show hosted by the Bulldog Club of America. The event is now a week-long due to the overwhelming size of its entry. Find out why in this California Life segment.
Founded in 1918, The Bulldog Club of America is the oldest Bulldog club on the West Coast. There are approximately 70-80 dogs competing each day in the Specialty show. The dogs are competing for points toward the championship and for the best of the breed as well.
In a Bulldog, 39 points are for the head–large skull, placement and color of the eyes, wrinkles, and more. The overall shape of the body is considered too–the movement, the balance, and the placement tail. The ideal dog is 100 points, which is comparing each dog to the standard.
