Basim Elkarra, the Executive Director of the Sacramento Valley chapter, is working to make sure every individual who has lived in the United States as of April 1st is counted in the 2020 Census. The census outreach efforts have utilized social media, phone numbers, and events in the hopes of getting everyone accounted for.
Elkarra explains the importance of accurately filling out the form and how it impacts the state and its communities. For every individual not counted in the census the states looses $1000 every year from federal funding.
The deadline for completing the census form is September 30th.
