Haunted Locations in California

Hotel Del Coronado

This luxury beach resort has stories of a ghostly guest named Kate Morgan, who checked in 1892 and never checked out. Guests report paranormal activity in the room where Kate stayed, such as breezes and a television turning on and off. The room has been renumbered a few times and is now 3327, the most requested room in the hotel.

Queen Mary in Long Beach

The Queen Mary is known for ghost tours and reports of unexplained sightings and feelings. Hatch door number 13 is the location of a famous ghost story about a young fireman who died in an accident. The first-class swimming pool is considered a paranormal hot spot due to a vortex in the dressing boxes that allows spirits to move between dimensions.

Queen Anne Hotel in San Francisco

This hotel is haunted by the ghost of Miss Mary Lake, who opened the building as a girls’ school in 1891. Guests have reported that Mary Lake tucks them in, strokes their hair, and comforts them.

Other haunted locations:

Golden Gate Park in San Francisco is allegedly home to the lady of Stow Lake.

Alcatraz Island is considered one of the most haunted places in San Francisco because of the extreme emotion associated with the worst criminals in the country.

Halloween FunDisneyland Resort

Disneyland offers Halloween treats like pumpkin pie, Mickey Vamp cookies, and coffin cake. A highlight is the pumpkin twist, made with puff pastry and pumpkin puree. The pumpkin twists can be found in Disneyland’s Fantasy Fair area and in Cars Land in California Adventure.

Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead celebrations: California families of Mexican heritage celebrate November 2nd as the Day of the Dead. Families gather at gravesites, share music and favorite foods, and create colorful shrines.
