Cabo San Lucas

This popular Mexican Riviera destination, located on the Baja Peninsula, offers white sand beaches and blue ocean waters. Activities include strolling along Playa del Amor (Lovers Beach), sailing around rock formations, sports fishing, and water-based activities like jet skiing, snorkeling, and parasailing. Inland, you can rent a dune buggy for off-road adventures. The nightlife includes nightclubs like the Hard Rock Cafe and Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina. The Hacienda Del Mar Los Cabos Resort offers spa treatments, dining experiences, and views of the Sea of Cortez.

Slay Restaurant

Chef David Slay owns Slay Steak and Fish in Manhattan Beach, Slay Hermosa, and Slay Italian. Slay Steak and Fish is a tribute to his family’s steakhouses dating back to the early 1900s. The cuisine is French Bistro with a Lebanese twist. The restaurants grow their own produce, including tomatoes, fruits, and berries, at their vineyard in Santa Barbara. Wiley appreciates the support from the local Manhattan Beach community.

National Service Dog Month

Celebrated in September, this month honors service dogs. Canine Companions, the largest service dog organization in the nation, provides dogs free of charge to people with disabilities. Saint Francis Winery and Vineyards donates one dollar to Canine Companions for every bottle of Sonoma County and Reserve wines purchased, up to $100,000 annually.

Flu Season

Experts recommend that older adults and those with chronic health conditions get a flu shot. The CDC recommends vaccination as a way to prevent getting or spreading serious diseases. Medical experts say it is safe to get the flu and COVID vaccines at the same time.

Palm Springs 85th Anniversary Celebration

Palm Springs celebrated its 85th anniversary with a Guinness Book of World Records attempt. The city was filled with music, cars, food, and a great crowd.

Halloween at Disneyland and California Adventure

Halloween time at the Disneyland Resort includes seasonal makeovers of attractions like Cars Land (Radiator Screams), Haunted Mansion (holiday theme from Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas), and Space Mountain (Ghost Galaxy). There is also a Día de los Muertos tribute in Frontierland, along with Halloween-themed decorations and food. A vampire character from the Disney Junior show Vampirina can be found in the parks and during Mickey’s Halloween Party parade.
