From August 12 to 17, the San Diego Civic Theatre, the city’s premier venue for Broadway hits, was buzzing with laughter and applause as it hosted SHUCKED, the Tony Award®–winning musical comedy that The Wall Street Journal calls “flat out hilarious.” And yes—economists have never been this funny.
Featuring a book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), a score by Grammy® Award-winning songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally (Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow”), and direction by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien (Hairspray), this corn-fed, corn-bred musical brought full Broadway energy straight to San Diego.
Audiences were treated to clever quips, unforgettable songs, and the kind of comedic timing only a Broadway-caliber production can deliver—all in the iconic San Diego Civic Theatre, a venue that truly makes every show feel like a Broadway night out.
For those lucky enough to attend, SHUCKED was a perfect blend of humor, heart, and musical magic. Corn has never been this Broadway-funny!
