In the Eastern Sierra, along Highway-395, lies a jewel known as Mammoth Lakes. The town occupies just four square miles, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in substance.

Mammoth Lakes has a rich history, including how it got its name. Our David Wylie explains in the story below, airing statewide this week on California Life!
