Marugame Udon – Japan’s most popular noodle shop – has made its way to the United States and is already making its mark on the restaurant-rich street of Sawtelle in the heart of Los Angeles.
In fact, “Marugame Udon might be the most authentic Japanese restaurant in LA,” according to Eater LA.
“This is the one location where we can have the confidence to start this concept,” Jun Goto, President/CEO of Maugame Udon explained.
The restaurants grand opening boasted speeches, saki shots, a traditional Japanese blessing and attracted hundreds of guests who lined up to get a first-look inside the restaurant and enjoy $1 bowls of kake udon all day.
But what makes Maugame Udon so different from other Japanese restaurants? The answer – It’s equipped with an original, Japanese-imported machine that mimics the “traditional methods” of making udon.
80% of the menu is authentic Japanese cuisine and 20% Is localized specifically for the Los Angeles location. The restaurant also boasts a cafeteria-style model, with self-serve service and low prices.
