The American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) in Pomona is one of only a few museums in the nation devoted exclusively to ceramic art and historic innovations in ceramic technology.
The 51,000 square foot facility features a ceramics studio as well as a permanent collection featuring more than 7,000 objects. The museum also plays host to traveling exhibitions, like “Dirk Staschke: Nature Morte.”
The lavish sculptures on display in “Nature Morte” are inspired by the Flemish and Dutch Vanitas still-life paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries and are a commentary on contemporary craving, overconsumption and excess.
