Olympian, Shannon Miller while Winter Olympics are underway has been helping beat a rare cancer. You could call it cycling for dollars, where spin enthusiasts cycle to raise money to support rare cancer research.
Among those taking part is Shannon Miller, one of the most decorated US gymnasts. The cause is close to her heart. Miller is a survivor of a rare type of ovarian cancer.
The research funding is lacking. Cycle for survival provides with 100% of its funds going directly to rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and it is a tremendous way to help those that are going through a rare cancer diagnosis.
Rare cancers often don’t get the attention or the resources of other more common types of cancer. So raising money to support studies into potential treatments for this underserved population is critically important, to patients and their loved ones.
If you’d like to put your own spin on rare cancer research you can visit https://www.cycleforsurvival.org/ to join a team and get involved.
