A veteran paralyzed in Afghanistan, Romy Camargo, knows all too well how technology can improve our lives as he recently became the first in-home trial for Human Support Robotics.
Human Support Robotics, or HSR, are “partner robots” designed to assist individuals with everyday activities.
With Romy’s help, Toyota is researching how this technology can help others with similar disabilities.
In this week’s episode, Romy explains how he normally relies on a nurse’s care 24 hours a day. Now, HSR allows him to complete common tasks such as grab him a water bottle or bring him some snacks.
“We partner with people like Romy to understand what are his needs, what are his day-to-day challenges and how can we match that to the capabilities of the robot,” a Toyota representative explained.
To learn more about this robotic technology, watch the full segment below or see it air nationwide on California Life with Heather Dawson.
