Viola Davis walked the red carpet at the 78th Golden Globe Awards wearing a custom gown from Los Angeles based brand Lavie by CK. The dress is a silk cotton African Print. Image attached. Viola’s stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, collaborated with Designer Claude Kameni to make the ultimate statement piece. They had collaborated before for Viola’s Vanity Fair cover in 2020.
Lavie By CK founder Claude Kameni was raised in Cameroon where her passion for fashion was cultivated. As a child she was extremely creative with clothing and art. After relocating to the United States, she was blessed to have the opportunity to mold and enhance her skills. The business is direct to consumer with By Appointment Only requests made in the studio for one-of-a-kind pieces.
Lavie by CK has made waves as a designer in just the past year. Recently, Amanda Seales, host of the BET Awards, wore an incredible custom Lavie by CK gown. Claude’s pieces have also been seen on top celebrities such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Lexi Underwood, Chloe & Halle and Janet Jackson. Lavie by CK was just named by WWD as one of the most influential designers to watch this year. Her designs can be found in Coming 2 America streaming this week. The featured wedding dress is Claude’s creation. https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-features/bet-awards-celebrate-black-designers-industry-change-1203659955/
