Let’s be honest – we all have digestive issues from time to time. But how do we know when the problems are caused by something we ate or are the result of a more serious health issue?
California Life Reporter Ron Jacobsohn sat down with Board-Certified Gastroenterologist Dr. Roshini Raj to help viewers distinguish occasional indigestion from severe symptoms.
Over the past decade, technology has allowed for startling realizations regarding gastrointestinal issues. “What were now learning is that so much of your overall health is determined by and starts in your gut,” said Dr. Roshini Raj.
Even though technology is advancing, there are still many people who experience symptoms that they view as “normal” while ignoring the problem. Some even go years without the proper diagnosis.
Dr. Roshini Raj points out that some of these GI symptoms that may seem rather ordinary actually mask a much more severe condition known as Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, or “EPI.”
“Follow your gut” this World Digestive Health Day – Monday, May 29th – and see a doctor regarding your symptoms. And to learn about EPI, watch the interview with Dr. Roshini Raj on this week’s episode of California Life airing nationwide.
