Eight years ago, the founders of Atome arrived in Canada from France—with a dream and a sourdough starter. Today, they’re proud Canadian citizens and the heart behind one of Vancouver’s most beloved artisan bakeries. From humble beginnings in a home kitchen, they’ve grown into a team of 14, baking each loaf with care, craft, and gratitude for the community that’s supported them.
Here’s what they shared this Canada Day:
“We’re filled with gratitude- for the country that welcomed us, for the community that supported us, and for the chance to build something meaningful, loaf by loaf.”
They also shared some bittersweet news: one of their beloved bakers is heading back to Europe this July. While they’ll be missed, Atome is now looking for a new assistant baker– someone who loves sourdough and wants to be part of something warm, growing, and full of heart.
If you know someone who might be the right fit, they’d love to hear from you. Just reply to their message or reach out directly.
This story is such a beautiful reminder of what Canada Day is all about- welcoming new beginnings, building community, and sharing what we love. We’re honored to support small local businesses like Atome and to help spread messages that celebrate connection and care.
