FAIRMONT SAN FRANCISCO IS TURNING SUMMER INTO A FAMILY PLAYGROUND

🏨 A Classic San Francisco Hotel Gets a Playful Upgrade

Summer trips with the whole family can go one of two ways: magical… or mildly chaotic.

Luckily, Fairmont San Francisco seems determined to keep things in the first category. The iconic Nob Hill hotel just unveiled a full lineup of new family-friendly experiences for summer 2026, and honestly, it sounds less like a typical hotel stay and more like a mini vacation inside the city itself

🍦 There’s Literally an Old-School Ice Cream Shop

Possibly the most fun addition? “Scoops,” a vintage-inspired soda shop experience running Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Think hand-scooped Double Rainbow ice cream, giant banana splits, fizzy floats, and nostalgic desserts served inside one of San Francisco’s most historic hotels. It feels very retro summer movie energy—in the best way possible

🏓 Pickleball… Inside a Ballroom

Because apparently regular pickleball wasn’t unexpected enough, the Fairmont is setting up indoor pickleball courts inside its iconic Grand Ballroom.

It’s one of those ideas that sounds random until you picture it and immediately want to try it. Historic luxury hotel meets America’s fastest-growing sport is not a crossover anyone predicted, but here we are.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Rooms That Actually Fit Families

The hotel also introduced newly designed Family Rooms with custom bunk beds and space for up to seven guests

Which honestly matters more than people realize. Finding luxury hotels that genuinely work for larger families without needing multiple rooms is surprisingly difficult, so this feels like a smart move.

🎬 Trivia Nights, Movie Nights & Candlelight Concerts

Beyond the rooms, the hotel is basically stacking the calendar all summer long.

Guests can check out:

  • Tuesday trivia nights
  • Friday movie nights
  • Guided history tours
  • Wine tastings at BIN 415
  • Morning stretch sessions with Arc Yoga
  • Candlelight concerts featuring music from Vivaldi and Hans Zimmer

So yes, there’s technically enough happening here to avoid making actual vacation plans.

🌉 Why It Works

What makes this feel different is that the hotel isn’t trying to compete with theme parks or giant resorts. It’s leaning into what makes San Francisco special: history, atmosphere, skyline views, and experiences that feel a little unexpected.

And honestly, pickleball in a ballroom kind of sums that up perfectly.
