“In the Heights” is based on the tony award winning musical by “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. It won best musical in 2008, and this film will definitely be a major contender come awards season. With Miranda’s ear catching, and touching lyrics paired with the energetic direction from John M. Chu of “Crazy Rich Asians” fame, “In the Heights” is the feel good movie that everyone has been waiting for.
The main character, Usnavi is played by Anthony Ramos where he takes us behind the scenes through his tight-knit neighborhood. He shows us the hopes and desires of those trying to live the American Dream.
