TikTok’s pandemic surge in popularity has led to singles rushing to the application to find dates and significant others, a revolution against traditional dating apps where swiping and compatibility algorithms pair potential matches. Singles on the social video-sharing site say that TikTok offers a more intimate dive into the lives of potential companions, setting a foundation for a “TikTokmance.” The hashtag, #Single, has garnered more than 18.5 billion views on TikTok.
Elizabeth Overstreet, relationship expert and matchmaker, is available to discuss the new TikTok dating trend and how younger singles are relying on the video-sharing social app to learn more about potential dates and compatibility. Overstreet can discuss why singles are feeling “burnout” on dating apps after a full-pandemic-year of swiping has not brought in a significant other.

According to statistics, eight of the nation’s top dating applications saw a 12.8 percent surge in usage during the final quarter of 2020 – the largest usage jump in two years. Tinder increased 15.3 percent, Hinge increased 52.8 percent, Bumble increased 10.9 percent.
