Checked Baggage Policy Updates

Starting May 28, 2025, Southwest will implement updates to its checked baggage policy:

• Two Free Checked Bags: Available for Rapid Rewards® A-List Preferred Members and customers traveling on Business Select fares.
• One Free Checked Bag: Offered to A-List Members and other select customers.
• Checked Bag Credit: Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers will receive one checked bag credit.
• General Baggage Fees: Customers outside these categories will be required to pay for their first and second checked bags, with continued charges for the third and fourth checked bags.

These changes are designed to reward loyal customers while maintaining a balanced approach to baggage fees.

Fare Bundle Enhancements

Southwest is rolling out updates to its fare bundles in two phases, allowing customers to select the level of flexibility and benefits that best suit their travel needs.

Phase 1: Effective Immediately

• Increased Rapid Rewards earn ratio on Business Select fares.
• Lowered earn ratio on Wanna Get Away® and Wanna Get Away Plus™ fares.
• Adjusted redemption rates across fare products, varying based on high- and low-demand travel periods.

Phase 2: Effective May 28, 2025

• Introduction of a new Basic fare, offering the lowest price point with reduced flexibility.
• Expiration dates will be applied to Flight Credits, varying by fare type.
