Summer should be a time to enjoy a little rest and relaxation, but that’s not always the case.
Even if you’ve had a vacation, once you get back to the daily grind, it can definitely take its toll.
Work-life coach Dr. Jaime Kulaga said one way to relieve your summertime stress is by living in the moment.
“We are consistently multi-tasking so this summer taking two notches down and being present in the moment,” Dr. Kulaga said. “So for example if you are at the beach, feel the sun on your skin, feel the sand between your toes, watch your children jumping in the waves and laughing, being present in the moment and enjoying what you do.”
Dr. Kulaga also recommends staying active, spending time outdoors and eating healthy.
“There’s a real importance this summer, year round in eating fresh,” Dr. Kulaga said. “90% of serotonin is made in your gut. Serotonin is the chemical that makes you happy, so if you’re not feeling fresh you’re going to feel that dip in your mood.”
Her top choice for fresh eating on the go is Wendy’s summer berry chicken salad. To find out why, check out our story below, airing statewide this week on California Life.
