WHEN NATURE BECOMES THE BEST MEDICINE

Share

Sometimes, healing begins with something as simple as standing in a river.

For thousands of veterans and active-duty service members across the country, fly fishing has become more than a hobby—it’s a way to reconnect with nature, build friendships, and rediscover a sense of purpose.

This summer, Golden Corral is helping make those experiences possible through its second annual fundraising campaign benefiting Project Healing Waters, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans through therapeutic outdoor recreation.

🌿 More Than Just Fishing

Founded in 2005, Project Healing Waters uses fly fishing as a pathway to physical and emotional well-being.

Participants learn everything from fly tying and rod building to casting and guided fishing trips, all while connecting with fellow veterans who understand the unique challenges of military service.

Today, the organization operates through nearly 170 programs across 45 states, serving thousands of veterans every year at no cost to participants.

🏞️ Nature as Therapy

There’s something uniquely restorative about spending time outdoors.

Whether it’s the quiet rhythm of casting a line, the focus required to tie a fly, or simply sharing stories beside the water, these experiences create opportunities for reflection and connection that are often difficult to find elsewhere.

For many veterans, it’s not just about catching fish.

It’s about finding community.

❤️ A Simple Way to Give Back

Now through August 23, guests dining at Golden Corral restaurants nationwide can support Project Healing Waters by rounding up their purchase at the register or making a donation through the campaign’s QR codes or online giving page.

The company hopes to raise $275,000, helping expand access to programs that continue changing lives one outing at a time.

🤝 Building Connections That Last

The impact of Project Healing Waters extends far beyond the water’s edge.

Many participants develop lasting friendships, discover new confidence, and find renewed purpose through shared experiences with fellow veterans and volunteers.

With the support of thousands of volunteers nationwide, the organization has served tens of thousands of veterans over the past decade, creating communities built on understanding, encouragement, and resilience.

🇺🇸 Giving Back Together

For many Americans, supporting veterans is about more than saying “thank you.”

It’s about creating opportunities that improve lives long after military service has ended.

Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply learning more about organizations making a difference, small acts of support can have a lasting impact.

✨ Healing Happens in Unexpected Places

Not every journey toward healing begins in a hospital or a clinic.

Sometimes it begins beside a quiet stream, surrounded by fresh air, good company, and the simple act of casting a line.

This summer, a meal at Golden Corral can help make more of those moments possible—supporting an organization that’s proving the outdoors can be a powerful place to heal.
