Fighting Fentanyl: A Conversation with Richard Tate on We’re Out of Time
The opioid crisis has claimed countless lives, and fentanyl, in particular, has become one of the most lethal threats in America today. Richard Tate, a rehab innovator, addiction specialist, and executive chairman of Carrera Treatment Wellness and Spa, is tackling this crisis head-on. Recently, he sat down with Lisa Spala on Coast to Coast to discuss his latest project—a powerful new podcast called We’re Out of Time.
A Mission Fueled by Personal Loss
For Tate, this fight is deeply personal. As a father, he understands the unimaginable pain of losing a child, and he’s determined to prevent other families from experiencing that heartbreak. We’re Out of Time was born out of a desperate need to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl.
“Burying your kid is the most unnatural thing that can happen to a parent,” Tate shared. “If I could save somebody from that immense despair, then I was going to do it.”
Unfiltered Conversations with Those Who Have Lived It
Tate’s podcast has already featured an impressive lineup of guests, including J. Moore, Lamar Odom, Famous Dex, and Lil Xan. But one of his most cherished episodes features Rema—a woman he found living on the streets five years ago. He has been helping her ever since, and she remains one of the greatest blessings in his life.
Beyond the big names, what makes We’re Out of Time stand out is the raw honesty of its conversations. Tate, having battled addiction himself, offers a unique space for guests to open up without fear of judgment.
“I personally don’t think anything caused my drug addiction because that would make me a victim,” he explained. Instead, he believes in taking full responsibility and finding paths to healing—whether through therapy, plant medicine, or faith.
Addressing the Crisis on a National Scale
When it comes to fighting fentanyl, Tate believes strong policy measures are essential. He has expressed a desire to work with President Trump’s administration on tackling the crisis.
“The president is exactly right—closing the border will stop a lot of the fentanyl coming into this country,” Tate stated. “This is terrorism, and we need to handle it accordingly.”
A Podcast That Could Save Lives
The fentanyl epidemic is a national emergency, and Tate’s podcast is doing more than just talking about it—it’s creating real awareness and offering hope. Whether through candid conversations with those who’ve overcome addiction or advocating for stricter policies, Tate’s mission is clear: We are out of time, and action is needed now.
For those struggling with addiction or looking for resources, We’re Out of Time is a must-listen. Because when it comes to saving lives, every conversation matters.
