Artificial intelligence is transforming how we shop—and Visa is leading the charge. On Coast to Coast, we spoke with Mark Nelson, Global Head of Consumer Product at Visa, to explore how AI is reshaping the future of digital commerce.

Visa recently launched an innovative new platform: Visa Intelligent Commerce. This technology allows AI agents to not only search and browse products for you—but also complete the purchase, all while maintaining Visa’s signature security and trust.

“Millions of consumers use AI to find things online, but payments are complicated,” Nelson explained. “Visa Intelligent Commerce allows AI agents to browse, select, and purchase on your behalf.”

A Seamless AI Shopping Experience

Nelson shared a scenario to highlight the simplicity of this new shopping model:

“Imagine telling an AI: ‘I want two concert tickets, here’s my budget, and here’s where I want to sit.’ The AI goes out, finds a match, and says: ‘I found it—should I buy it?’ All you have to do is say yes.”

This signals a dramatic shift in how we interact with online shopping. Consumers will soon be able to fully delegate their purchasing tasks to AI agents—while still retaining full control.

Visa has partnered with leading tech innovators like OpenAIMicrosoft, and Perplexity to bring this vision to life. With Visa powering the transactions, consumers can rely on the security, personalization, and convenience they expect.

“We’re constantly developing technologies to simplify the shopping experience—make it more secure, more personalized, and frictionless,” Nelson added.
